School hours: 7:25 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. Bankruptcy judge offers insight as keynote
It's C areer Week at Spencerport High School, and to kick off the event, students learned the importance of personal finance from keynote speaker, Judge John Ninfo. Judge Ninfo is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Western District of New York and has founded the outreach program, CARE (Credit Abuse Resistance Education.) Under related files below, Judge Ninfo provided helpful handouts, which offer useful information on the ABCs of finance.
Students and staff in the news On Wednesday, February 24, 2010, our Student Government held the third annual Talent Show that featured over 25 acts. This was by far the biggest event that we have held thus far and our students did not disappoint in terms of displaying their musical prowess. Our sincerest thanks go to Liz Perelli, Katie Wyant, Samantha Keehley, and our entire Student Government for organizing this event. The winners from this year’s Talent Show are:
Singing: Sarah Bowman, “One More Time”
Dancing: Duane Jennings, Karl Salmon, Young Ki Pyo – Break Dancing (their performance from Wednesday night has been posted on YouTube)

Fan Favorite: Raven Dowd, Singing and Piano “What Do You Want From Me?”
Congratulations to all of the individuals listed above and to everyone that made this evening possible.
Please join me in congratulating Christopher Plummer, who is the recipient of the "Outstanding Student of the Month" award. We believe that Christopher is a student who best exemplifies our February theme, “Leadership and Citizenship.” Christopher was selected by several faculty members because of his participation in National Honor Society, Cross Country, Swimming, Baseball, DECA, the school Bookstore, and BHS. Outside of school, Christopher works at Spencerport Bowl and works as a lifeguard and swimming teacher. After High School, Christopher plans to attend Clarkson University to study Engineering and Management.
Congratulations to senior Andrew Alvarez who has been selected as the Student of the Month for January 2010 for the afternoon session of WeMoCo. Andrew is a student in the Digital Communication/Media Production Class. He was recommended by his teacher based on attendance, professional appearance, attitude, communication skills and having a grade average of a “C” or better.
As you know, many of our students excel in various athletic endeavors and the following individuals have left quite a mark in their respective sports.
- Amanda Clapper had the individual high series at Bowling Sectionals with a 6-game total of 1,310, qualifying her for the NYS Bowling Championships on March 6 and 7.
- Joe Inzana, Paul Morabito, Cody Miller, and Enzo Zagari qualified for the NYS Wrestling Championships in Albany on February 26 and 27.
- Congratulations to Nicoletta Lattuca, our Class A Long Jump Champion! Nicca will participate in the State Qualifiers next weekend along with Eric Ziegler in the Long Jump and 55 m dash and Madeline Kopp on the high jump.
Congratulations to Jennifer Westurn on her recent engagement to Jeffrey Bulmahn of Spencerport. The couple met on e-Harmony only to discover that they live across the street from one another. Jeff works as a medical biller at Unity Health and a tax advisor at H & R Block. He is also a foster care provider. The wedding is set for June 26th of this year.
Welcome to Mary Kay Adams from St. John Fisher College who will be student teaching with Rick Mueller in the Social Studies department beginning March 15 through April 30.
