The Community
Historic Spencerport is a quiet western New York village on the Erie Canal. With tree-lined streets and neighborly shops, it is just 10 miles west of Rochester, a vibrant urban community with historic attractions including the International Museum of Photography, The Strong National Museum of Play, the Susan B. Anthony House and entertainment to suit all tastes. The University of Rochester, Xerox, Wegmans, and Paychex are among the nationally known companies that call Rochester home.

Professional Development
Spencerport values lifelong learning for both students and staff. This includes rich opportunities for staff development that promotes excellence in education and providing support for emerging needs.
Marie Campanaro, NBCT“What I find at Spencerport is a very supportive, goal-oriented and child-centered place to teach and work. We get so much support from other teachers, administrators and parents – that’s what really makes the difference.”

National Board Certified Teacher
Spanish Teacher at Cosgrove Middle School
Teachers new to the district participate in a year-long seminar series. Ongoing professional development includes standards-based training in instruction and assessments. We also support and recognize teachers who earn National Board Certification.

Volunteer Support
The Spencerport School District has more than one thousand volunteers each year. Spencerport’s volunteer orientation program teaches people how to help in the schools.
“The way I look at it, my classroom is like a three-legged school: teacher, students and parents make up the legs. Without a leg, the stool collapses.”

Dan VanVleck
Middle School Teacher
with the district since 1998
