Students and Staff in the News:
Please join me in congratulating Dan Cumbo on being selected as the Outstanding Student of the Month for March. We believe that Dan is a student who best exemplifies our March theme, "Open Nomination." Dan was nominated by several faculty members because of the outstanding skills he demonstrates in and out of class. Outside of school, Dan is employed at Tim Hortons and is interested in airplanes and flying. Congratulations Dan!

Once again, our music students represented Spencerport High School beautifully both in performance as well as behavior last week at the Jazz Festival at MCC and during the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Major Organization Evaluation Festival. Our Jazz Band took most outstanding jazz ensemble, most outstanding rhythm section, most outstanding jazz soloist, Stephen Basil, and honorable mention jazz soloist, Dave Daggett. In addition, our Wind Ensemble took top honors during the NYSSMA competition by receiving a gold rating at the highest level of performance. Please join me in congratulating John Viavattine and all of our talented musicians for these incredible accomplishments.

A Message from Facilities and Security:
We have established an "off hours" answering service to allow us to take calls for work after the normal work day. These calls can be for every aspect of the Facilities realm, from parking lot lights out, to plugged toilets, to cold rooms. A call to the answering service will be routed to an appropriate manager for follow-up. The number is (585) 453-2360.

Academic Awards Ceremony As the school year begins to draw to a close, the 2008 Academic Awards Ceremony is almost upon us! The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Award recipients will be notified by mail two weeks prior to May 28th.
During the week of May 19, juniors and seniors who have met the academic requirements will receive their academic letter or bar during Advisement. Student names will be read over the announcements by their respective counselor and asked to report to the “rock wall” to receive either a letter or pin.
