During its meeting on April 8, the Spencerport School Board of Education unanimously approved the budget proposal for 2025-26, which will now be voted upon by district residents on Tuesday, May 20. The expenditure plan, which totals $102.5 million, prioritizes:
• academic learning and programs
• operational needs
• staffing
• safety and security
• feedback provided from the volunteers serving on the Budget Focus Group, 2024 exit poll and the Board of Education
• continued focus on fiscal accountability to our taxpayers*
The final revenue projections are incomplete pending an adopted state budget; however, at this time, we
• project a 3% increase in the $44.7 million tax levy ($827,851 below the maximum allowable levy limit of 4.91%), therefore requiring a simple majority approval
• anticipate the use of reserves to offset specific expenses such as workers compensation, unemployment, and retirement contributions
The community budget vote will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, and in the coming weeks, more budget details will be added to the budget section of our website and in the May edition of Cornerstone.
