Travel plans outside of NYS?

Effective Nov. 4, the Governor issued new out-of-state travel advisory guidelines. These guidelines are not limited to “hot spot” states, but apply to all states which are not contiguous with New York’s borders. (Note: states contiguous to NYS are defined as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut, where no quarantine restrictions apply) If an individual or family travels back from any other state, they must:

  1. Obtain a COVID test within 72 hours of departure from that state and prior to entering NYS.
  2. Quarantine for a minimum of three (3) days upon arrival in NYS, measured from the time of arrival in NYS.
  3. Obtain a second COVID test on the 4th day of quarantine.
  4. If both COVID tests are negative, the traveler may exit quarantine upon receipt of the second negative test. If either test is positive, the MCDPH will provide direction on a quarantine period.

If you will be traveling to a non-contiguous state with NYS, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the steps above and understand this may impact your child’s ability to attend in-person instruction upon our Thanksgiving return. Your ongoing diligence and support through this pandemic has been crucial to our ability to remain open for our students, and we understand and appreciate the sacrifices we are all making to keep our families healthy and district running. Please continue to mask up, stay distanced, report symptoms, and practice healthy hygiene.
