What are COVID micro-clusters and zones?
We are hearing more and more about COVID-19 positive cases across the Finger Lakes region, as well as references to the New York State's scientific approach to identifying and limiting the spread of the virus through designated "micro-clusters" and zones labeled red, orange, and yellow.

We compiled a few definitions, as well as resources, for our community on our website.

NEW! We learned earlier today (Nov. 9) that Governor Cuomo designated parts of Monroe County as a Yellow Zone. We have confirmed that Spencerport is not listed as a Yellow Zone. Towns, cities and school districts that are designated include: the city of Rochester, Greece, Irondequoit, Webster, Penfield, Perinton, East Rochester, Pittsford, Brighton, Henrietta, Chili and Gates.

School districts in the Yellow Zone will be required to
test 20 percent of our staff and students.

The district became aware of the governor's announcement at the same time as the general public. While we understand our families may have many questions, we don’t have any further information at this time as to what this testing may involve. Please know that we will be following the guidance of the Monroe County Dept. of Public Health and will share information with our families and staff as soon as it becomes available.
