Principal's Update

It's OUR Time.

Greetings Cosgrove Families!

We are at the half-way point! Crazy. As we approach the conclusion of Quarter 2, we have a lot to be proud of! Our academic and behavioral data as a school has been nothing short of stellar, with over 85 percent of our students maintaining an 85 GPA or higher! This is due to the hard work and discipline of our students. Our students are buying into to the vision and not looking back. Our grade level assemblies last week highlighted this mentality, celebrating our behavioral improvements and extremely high numbers of students exceeding expectations. We reflected on our behavior throughout the school and set goals on having an even better second half of the school year, and that is right around the corner.

We are excited and extremely proud of our students and grateful for the support from you, the families, as we continue to build our students holistically in alignment with our Ranger Values. Keep Pushing! #WEARECOSGROVE

MBF Child Safety Matters

In the past several years, many states including NY, have passed  Erin's Law with the intent of increasing the awareness of child abuse. In Spencerport, our schools will continue to work with Community Educators from Child Advocacy Center to help us deliver the Monique Burr Foundation (MBF) Child Safety Matters™ program from the Monique Burr Foundation for Children. The program consists of age-appropriate lessons to help children spot and respond to child abuse (physical, sexual and neglect), bullying and digital dangers. Most importantly, it teaches that adults are responsible for children's safety. The program is based on the latest research and has been reviewed and endorsed by national experts. CMS students will begin receiving these lessons on February 1.

What exactly is covered in the lessons? MBF Child Safety Matters covers personal safety, all types of child abuse, digital abuse, bullying, cyberbullying and other digital dangers. The lessons focus on teaching children to rely on safe adults for support. Lessons are taught using age-appropriate and child-friendly language, fun games, and activities. See and complete the attached if you select to have your student opt out.

Feb. 3 Community Vote: EV Buses

Spencerport will hold a vote on Tuesday, February 3, requesting use of up to $390,000 of our school bus and motor vehicle reserve fund toward the purchase of two zero-emission (electric) buses. I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of being informed about this vote.

The referendum only determines the use of reserves to offset the taxpayer portion of this cost. This amount, along with state and federal grants, would mean no tax increase. Please visit our website section dedicated to EV buses and this vote.

Upcoming Safety Drills

Upcoming Drill Notification

As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and preparedness of our students and staff, we will be conducting Lockdown drills in the following weeks. The purpose of these drills is to ensure that everyone is familiar with our procedures and can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an actual emergency. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our school community safe.

Message from LOTS

Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported our January Appreciation Event: Cocoa, Coffee & Cookie Bar! Our events are successful because of our generous Cosgrove community!

We will share information on the February Appreciation Event soon. LOTS continuously accepts monetary donations via Venmo @Cosgrove-lots.
