Updates regarding Spencerport Pre-Kindergarten

UPDATES REGARDING SPENCERPORT PRE-KINDERGARTEN
 

Spencerport’s Pre-Kindergarten is a district program offered at multiple locations and sessions. To be eligible for the Pre-K lottery, Registration and Applications must be submitted by 3:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026.


Program Locations and Sessions

  • Six sessions at Spencerport elementary schools: 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • One session at JLU Childcare: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (wrap-around care available)

  Program Details

  • Students may attend Pre-K in a different elementary building than their future K–5 school.
  • Transportation is the responsibility of parents/guardians; bussing is not provided.
  • Spencerport Pre-K is free of charge for participating families.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to be potty-trained.
  • Daily schedule includes rest/nap time.
  • Breakfast and lunch are available for purchase, or students may bring their own.
  • Classes meet five days a week and generally follow the district calendar. Any schedule changes will be communicated in advance.
  • Parents must ensure on-time drop-off and pick-up daily.
  • Families needing childcare should consider our Community-Based Organization location, JLU JLU Child Care in Rochester NY, structured birth through prek program. Acceptance into Pre-K via lottery is separate from wrap-around care, which must be arranged directly with the provider.

Eligibility

  • Child must be 4 years old by December 1, 2026 (born between Dec. 2, 2021 and Dec. 1, 2022).
  • Must be a resident of Spencerport Central School District.
  • This is the only year students within this birthday range are eligible for Pre-K.

Pre-K Application Process

  • Registration and Applications for the 2026–2027 school year open December 1, 2025, at 8:00 am.
  • If applicants exceed available seats, a lottery system will determine enrollment.
  • For 2025–2026, funding supported 126 students.
  • To be eligible for the lottery, Registration and Applications must be submitted by 3:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Registration and Applications must be submitted by 3:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026. You will receive an email confirmation upon submission.
Important: If registration and applications are not completed by the deadline, your child will not be included in the lottery. Late applications will be added to the waitlist once registration is complete.

 

Lottery Information

  • If needed, the lottery will be held virtually on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 1:30 PM. A link will be available on our website.
  • Within a few days, families will receive an email with lottery results (accepted or waitlisted).
  • Within a few weeks, accepted families will receive location/session details and an acceptance form link.
  • Acceptance forms must be submitted by the deadline indicated in the email, or the slot will be reassigned.

Waitlist Procedures

  • Applications received after 3:00 pm on February 20, 2026, will be added to the waitlist once registration is complete.
  • The waitlist will remain active throughout the school year if openings occur.

Please note: Spencerport’s Pre-K program for 2026–2027 is contingent upon NYS Pre-K funding and voter-approved SCSD budget.

Wait-list procedures

  • The wait list will be maintained during the school year in the event slots become available.
  • If/when a parent/guardian of a selected student decides not to enroll the child, or drops out of the program, the first family on the wait list will be contacted. This will repeat until a family accepts the available slot.  

Any student of a family that rejects the offered slot is moved to the end of the waiting list.
The application period is now closed for the 2025-2026 Full-day Pre-K and the classrooms are full. If you would like your child's name added to the waitlist, please complete the form below.
