In accordance with statewide law, Spencerport has enacted a "bell-to-bell" internet-enabled device ban as of September, 2025. Since the law passed, the district has developed a plan designed to be accommodating and sustainable.

  • Students in elementary school will continue to not be allowed internet-enabled devices on the school grounds or transportation. This is consistent with the previous district policy.
  • Students in grades 6-12 will be issued a zipped pouch in which their personal devices must stay throughout the school day. These will be stored in the student’s locker. The pouches are a physical reminder of the honor system to which the students are agreeing by not use their devices during the school day. However, the pouches do not lock and the students’ devices will be accessible in case of emergency.

Students who repeatedly violate this honor system will have their privileges suspended through the use of a magnetically locking pouches or a central storage solution. The Personal Device Policy will be reviewed regularly with stakeholders to assess the effectiveness and quality.
