Board of Education to meet, Oct. 20 (6:15 p.m.)
The Spencerport Board of Education will hold a regular meeting at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Canal View Elementary cafeteria. PLEASE note the start time.

Privilege of the Floor
Pre-registration is required on a first-come, first-served basis for the three available openings to speak in the 30-minute allotment. To register to speak, contact Marcy Clapper, district clerk, at 349-5101.
Remarks should be limited to 5 minutes or less for confirmed speakers. The board will listen to input but will not respond except to refer any specific concerns to the superintendent for follow-up. At their discretion, the board may respond in writing to individuals who utilize Privilege of the Floor.
Remarks related to personnel, individual students, or matters protected by privacy laws are not permitted. Topics of this nature should be presented to district administration in accordance with Board policy 3230 governing complaints.
All speakers and attendees are to conduct themselves in a civil manner. Obscene language, defamatory statements, threats of violence, falsified information, statements advocating racial, religious or other forms of prejudice will not be tolerated.
Security check-in required for BOE meetings
A valid driver’s license is required for entry into the building. Spencerport students attending for recognitions or for class assignments may bring their student ID.
Kiwanis donation supports community book study
The Family Support Center is excited to introduce a new lending library resource, with books generously donated by the Spencerport Kiwanis.
On Sep. 18, Spencerport Kiwanis’ Crystal Benjamin delivered copies of Raising Kids with Big Baffling Behaviors by Robyn Gobbel. This resource will be the topic of a community book study facilitated by the Family Support Center in partnership with our elementary schools. The discussion centers on caring for a child who struggles with:
| • Aggressive behavior • Anxiety or depression • Sleep challenges |
• Negative self-talk • Defiant behavior • Intense emotional meltdowns |
If you are, you are not alone. This is a no-shame, no-blame opportunity to connect during a free, seven-week virtual book study designed to support families as they learn practical strategies for understanding and responding to challenging behaviors. This is the second year for this book study, and previous participants provided the feedback below.
