Superintendent's update

Oct. 31, 2025

Dear Spencerport Families,

The 2025-26 school year has been an interesting start for me, and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of well-wishes, following my unexpected heart surgery and ongoing recovery. Everyone has been extremely supportive, and I hope you know how much I appreciate your kindness. Specifically, Dr. Pam Kissel, the administrative team, and board of education have been instrumental in leading the district in my absence and I want to publicly thank them.

Recognizing Ranger Pride

As you know, the Board of Education established the Ranger Pride recognition last year to honor students and staff for the outstanding contributions demonstrated within the Spencerport Central School District.

If you see these recipients from September and October, please give them a special congratulations.

2024 Capital Project update

Last December, the Spencerport community approved the proposed $80 million improvement project to focus on instructional spaces, including Science, Technology, Arts, Math, libraries, and FACS, as well as performing arts center, multi-sport field, three playgrounds, and more.

Since the vote, the architectural firm, Ashley McGraw, and construction management group, Campus Construction, have been meeting with teachers and instructional leaders to identify their hopes and visions for these areas. The teams also met with students at Cosgrove and the High School to incorporate their voice into the designing phase of the project.

The result is Phase 1 which consists of:
  • Playgrounds at Bernabi, Canal View and Taylor
  • Cosgrove’s lobby and library renovations
  • The high school’s STEAM modernization for the technology, art and FACS rooms
  • auditorium seating, carpet and sound system replacements
  • The lighting and multi-sport field installation

We anticipate that the architecture and engineering plans for the above work will be submitted in early December to the New York State Education Department for approval.

Important reminders

Parent/Teacher conferences

The first marking period ends on November 7, which means that parent-teacher conferences are soon to follow. Meeting with your student’s teachers presents a good opportunity to discuss individual progress, ask questions, and connect with schools.
